Burda 6849 double gauze shirt / chemisier en gaze de coton

A classic button down shirt is an item that had been missing from my wardrobe for a long time. I'm never happy with the fit of RTW shirts so I don't buy them, and fitting a shirt pattern by myself with no sewing buddy to help is a task I always delay. But I decided it was time to remedy that situation, and since the beginning of 2018 most of my sewing time has been devoted to Burda 6849. These past weeks I've been busy sewing many iterations of that pattern and today I'm showing you my version in blue double gauze.

I started working on Burda 6849 with high expectations as I just love the lines of that shirt (I feel funny saying that, since who would start a pattern with low expectations?). 

Burda 6849 has many lovely details going on, such as front and back darts, breast pockets with flaps, a shirt tail hem and the option of a front yoke if you want to go for a western look. Pretty much everything I love in a …
